TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A man was arrested after police say he followed a woman into an elevator at a Tallahassee hotel and robbed her at gunpoint.
According to the Tallahassee Police Department, officers responded to a robbery that happened at a Hampton Inn & Suites hotel located in the 800 block of Railroad Avenue shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Police spoke with victim who stated that the suspect followed her into the elevator as she was returning to her room.
He then pulled out a handgun and took numerous items, including her debit card.
After the robbery, TPD says the suspect then ran out of the hotel.
The card was used a short time later at an ATM in the 1700 block of Lake Bradford Road.
Investigators were able to quickly identify a suspect, who was located in the 1600 block of McCaskill Avenue.
The suspect, 40-year-old Shawn Owens was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility.
He is being charged with robbery with a firearm.
