TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A man has been arrested for aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer after he intentionally rammed into the deputy's car twice.

The Leon County Sheriff's office says that around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. a deputy was driving his unmarked patrol vehicle in the area of Capital Circle NW and I-10 when he noticed a gold Nissan SUV driving recklessly on Capital Circle NW from Gearhart Road.

The deputy then got behind the SUV and activated his emergency lights to get the driver to slow down. Once the SUV began to pull over, the deputy turned off his lights and passed the vehicle while was still pulled over on the side of the road.

LCSO says the deputy turned onto Fred George Road and didn't see the SUV behind him. Eventually, the deputy stopped at a red light at Mission Road.

While there, someone rear-ended the deputy's vehicle. When the deputy looked, he saw it was the same SUV he was behind earlier.

LCSO says the driver, 26-year-old Seth Hooppell, turned off his headlights and rammed the deputy's patrol car again. The deputy then pulled over, but Hooppell drove away.

Eventually, deputies found Hooppell's car and pulled him over a few minutes later on North Monroe Street and Crowder Road. He was arrested and taken to the Leon County Detention Facility. Hooppell has been charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.
