Madison man wins $2 million prize from Florida scratch-off game

MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — A 50-year-old Madison man has become an instant millionaire after claiming the top prize from a Florida Lottery scratch-off game.

The Florida Lottery announced Monday that Keith Smith, 50, of Madison, claimed a $2 million top prize from the $2,000,000 CASHWORD Scratch-Off game.

He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $1,475,000.00.

Smith purchased his winning ticket from Busy Bee, located at 1407 East U.S. 90 in Madison. The retailer will receive a $4,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

The $10 Scratch-Off game, $2,000,000 CASHWORD, launched in August 2017 and features six top prizes of $2 million and over 6,000 prizes between $1,000 to $2 million. The overall odds of winning are one-in-3.38.

Florida Lottery offices are currently open to the public by appointment only for players with prizes valued at $600 or more.

Players can request a claim appointment at Headquarters and district offices through the Lottery’s website, at www.flalottery.com/howToClaim. You can also use the secured drop box located at each district office or mail tickets to Florida Lottery Headquarters or a district office.
