LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. — The South Georgia Council of Boy Scouts of America will honor Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk.

Sheriff Paulk is the 2019 recipient of he Distinguished Citizens Award. He will be recognized by over 400 of his fellow scouts as well as Georgia Governor Brian Kemp.

Sheriff Paulk says it's a true honor.

"I told them when they told me this was going to happen, I said gosh I think there are a lot more people that should be standing here other than me," said Paulk. "There’s so many people in Lowndes County that have done so much for the county and the city but I’m very honored."

Paulk says the Boy Scouts have given him the tools needed to get where he is today.
