Lowndes County Schools: 5 employees, 13 students test positive for COVID-19

LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga.(WTXL) — The Lowndes County School District confirms that a total of 13 students have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the district's COVID-19 weekly update, 13 students have a current positive status and 73 students have quarantined for possible exposure.

Lowndes County students started in-person classes on August 14.

In addition to students, LCS says five employees have tested positive and 19 employees have quarantined for possible exposure.

School officials stated "For the past 14 days, Lowndes County Schools positive COVID-19 cases of faculty and students is .1% compared to the Lowndes County community data reported by the Department of Public Health of .3%."
