LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — Authorities say one person is dead after an accident between a Lowndes County school bus and another vehicle.
According to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 84 near Delmare road.
Lowndes County Schools says a car rear-ended a bus that was transporting approximately 15 students.
None of the students were injured but LCS says they are being checked by medical personnel just to be safe.
School officials say the parents of those students have been contacted. "As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority," an LCS spokesperson said.
At this time, authorities have not released the identity of the deceased person.
