LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. — Lowndes County leaders broke ground at the site of a facility that will eventually employ about 150 people.
Governor Brian Kemp was one of the many leaders on hand to help lift that symbolic, first shovel-full of dirt Thursday morning.
You're looking at the future site of Arglass, a glass container manufacturing plant. It's going off Rocky Ford Road near Highway 221.
But the work does not start there, leaders have been working for years to make sure that this facility found a home in the Peach State.
"We were number one in workforce development, which is the number one issue of every single company that I talk to in this state," said Gov. Kemp. "Making sure that you have a qualified workforce to fill the facilities like this with good, hardworking Georgians."
County leaders hope to see the very first bottle produced at this plant by January of 2021.
