LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — Lowndes County law enforcement is taking life-saving to heart.

Automated external defibrillators or AED's will be issued to deputies and jail staff after they go through training on how to use them.

The devices can help save the life of someone who may suffer a sudden cardiac arrest.

"There's no doubt that AED's save lives, so all we're trying to do is enable those deputies to give these people a better chance at having a second chance and that's what this is all about."

This initiative was made possible through private funding.
