TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A teacher at the Florida State University School got quite the surprise Monday morning.

Teacher Megan Crombie is a finalist for the 2020 Florida Teacher of the Year award.

What a great way to kick off teacher appreciation week. Celebrating the wonderful contributions of teachers in our area.

Miss Crombie teaches math for sixth and seventh graders. That is a tough subject, but Miss Crombie is excited about the challenge.

"A lot of them don't like to do math when they come to the school at the beginning of the year," said Crombie. "Sometimes, there's a fear of math going on, so I love to help them get over that fear, kinda just jump into the problems and see that they can do it if they practice enough."

We certainly salute Miss Crombie for her efforts.

The winner of the Teacher of the Year award will be announced at the annual gala in Orlando on July 18.
