TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — On Thursday night, those living and working in Frenchtown gathered to discuss the future of the neighborhood.

The Tallahassee Urban League, local pastors and leaders hosted the town hall-style meeting, inviting people to give their input on what can be done to improve the area and move it forward.

Ideas brought up included ways to combat crime, improve walk ability on streets with adding sidewalks, investing in the youth and schools, and health equity.

Others mentioned cleaning up the streets from drugs and turning abandoned property into gathering places for people.

One community member said, they need to come up with a good plan like the southside did.

We need to do the same thing. nobody can guess what it is that we want. We got to get some specific things we want in terms of programs and ideas for this community," said community member.

Tallahassee City Commissioners Jeremy Matlow and Diane Williams-Cox were in attendance

Other city and county leaders had reps to attend on their behalf.
