It's the first weekend of hurricane season 2019.

For those who haven't taken the time to prepare for the next hurricane WTXL is hoping our this story helps you understand why preparation is so important.

We've been following one woman's story since she tried to evacuate ahead of Michael.

For the past seven months, Katy Caster has been sleeping in her dining room.

Caster's bedroom was destroyed in October by an unwanted visitor, Hurricane Michael.

While Caster's been sleeping in the dining room, her mom moved into the living room sleeping just feet away from each other!

It's been 7 months but things are getting back to "normal". Just a few weeks ago, Caster got a new roof, repairs were made to the damaged walls and trusses. But signs of Michael, can still be seen.

"Look at my pool and pool cage. Still not fixed," said Caster.

While they don't want to think about another hurricane season beginning while they're still dealing with the effects of the last one, they say this time, they'll be better prepared.

Meanwhile, Caster and her family have made the best of their circumstance, even naming a turtle who's made her pool his home.

And of course, Caster has named the turtle Michael!
