TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Coming together to end hate and violence in our community.

That's the goal of faith leaders in the Capital City in response to the recent mass shootings in the country.

With the recent tragedies in Ohio and Texas, Tallahassee faith leaders are urging people in the community to stand up against white supremacy and white nationalists.

Many are also urging our nations leaders to ban assault style weapons.

"There is no need to have AK-47s and automatic weapons in the hands of private citizens to be used in the acts that took place in this country," said Reverend Lee Johnson of Loved by Jesus Family.

This is all ahead of National Night Out in which local law enforcement agencies are gearing up to partner in a national campaign to build better relationships within their communities.

The community is invited to join the Tallahassee Police Department and more law enforcement agencies Tuesday on Roberts Avenue at 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m in celebration of National Night Out.
