TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Outdoor workers all over our area are finding ways to stay cool in the heat.
One of those workers is Joyce Baker, who works as a school crossing guard at Fort Braden Elementary School.
Baker has been helping kids cross the street for nine years, and says that she hasn't worried about the heat affecting her. Instead, she finds a cool place to stand while waiting on the kids.
"I have one light pole that has a little shadow and I stand in it. It's just a lot of fun, and I get attached to the children," said Baker.
Baker helps the children cross the street quickly, so their time in the sun is limited.
