(WTXL) — UPDATE: The severe thunderstorm warning has been discontinued in Lowndes County.
ORIGINAL STORY:
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Lowndes County as a strong storm moves through the area.
The National Weather Service says the warning will be in effect until 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
NWS says gusts of up to 60 mph and hail are possible with this storm.
A severe thunderstorm warning is issued when either a severe thunderstorm is reported to be producing hail one inch or larger in diameter and/or winds equal or exceed 58 miles an hour. If an warning is issued, people in the affected area should seek safe shelter immediately.
