TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A Leon High fundraising team is named the best.

Leon High School's Dance Marathon partnered with Dance Marathon Florida State University for the achievement.

This year, Leon alone raised over $130,000 for the University of Florida Health Shands Children's Hospital, a 32 percent increase from 2019.

Ansley Green* is a Leon High graduate and the co-executive director for Leon High's Dance Marathon 2020 team.

"It was so awesome to see so many people come together, especially such a diverse group of people," said Green. "Everyone came together for this cause and really put forth their most effort. It was really cool."

Leon High was awarded the Best High School Dance Marathon award at Dance Marathon Leadership Conference 2020.

The Best High School Dance Marathon award recognizes a High School Miracle Network Dance Marathon program that hosted a Dance Marathon event in the 2019-2020 academic year and is chosen based on a combination of fundraising success, year-round programming, and Dance Marathon event execution.

Miracle Network Dance Marathon is an international movement with over 400 colleges, universities, and K through 12 schools across North America taking part.

Money raised benefits local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. For more information about Dance Marathon, click here.
