TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Leon County Health Department is offering free COVID-19 tests to residents of the Kenwood Place Apartments in Tallahassee.

Officials say it’s part of the Leon County Health Department’s ongoing mission to increase access to testing for vulnerable populations in the area.

The sample collection will be held on Friday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This will be a closed testing site and it will not open to the general public.

Health officials say some 100 residents of the senior living apartment complex are scheduled to be tested.

This will be the first of several mobile community testing sites organized by the health department to reach underserved residents.

Information on both open and closed sites will be announced as plans are finalized.

County-wide more than 13,000 people have been tested for infection so far.

In addition to testing, residents will be receiving guidance from a staff health educator about how to stay safe and prevent the spread of the virus.

The Leon County Health Department says are committed to bringing testing models to the community that meet residents where they are.
