LEON COUNTY, Fla. — We're just days away from the start of early voting in a Florida special election.

Up for grabs, the Florida House of Representatives District 7 seat.

Early voting begins on June 8, so on Wednesday, the Leon County Supervisor of Elections conducted a test of the election equipment to make sure it's good to go for election day.

Leon County wants to make sure the equipment will examine, count, and record votes accurately.

They tested eight voting machines, two high-speed tabulators that count mail-in ballots, and their post-election audit system. Then the Canvassing Board convened to certify the results.

"The most basic tenants of security is making sure you have the election coded properly and the tallies are going to be accurate and trustworthy and that's what we've done," said Mark Earley, Supervisor of Elections for Leon County. "We spent the last several weeks after the primary election programming this and its been a relatively straight forward process."

Only four precincts in Leon County are eligible to vote in the upcoming special election.
