Leon County Sheriff’s Office investigating shooting in area of Tower Road; suspect in custody

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — UPDATE 8/28/2022: The Leon County Sheriff's Office announced early Sunday that it had detained an individual in connection to a shooting in the area of Tower Road and John Boy Lane.

According to the news release, 42-year-old Lance Dickey was taken into custody.

Dickey is facing one count of attempted second degree homicide in relation to the incident.

Around 8 p.m. Saturday, the Leon County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Tower Road and John Boy Lane, which is located in the northwest portion of Leon County.

Law enforcement detectives learned that an argument occurred between a group of people, which led to gunshots being fired.

According to the sheriff's office, one person was injured and was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

During its investigation, which included interviews and collecting evidence, detectives were able to identify Dickey as the suspect.

The report notes Dickey was taken into custody around the 500 block of Pryor Court and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility.

The sheriff's office says the incident remains under investigation and requests anyone with information regarding the incident to call the sheriff office's violent crimes unit at 850-606-3300.

An individual may also submit anonymous information to the Big Bend Crimestoppers by calling 850-574-8477 and may be eligible to receive a cash award if the information leads to an arrest.
