LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Leon County deputies are helping fill the need for blood all over the world through their One Blood drive.

The department brought in two buses this year to help give back. This is the first year LCSO has brought in an additional bus.

LCSO partnered with Northeast Florida Concerns of Police Survivors as part of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day to help honor officers and the sacrifices they make every day.

Deputy Dave Teems with the Leon County Sheriff's Office says giving back in this way can make a big difference in someone else's life.

"You never know what you need until something happens. When it comes to blood, that's one of those deals," Deputy Teems explained. "When accidents happen, you need to make sure you are able to help other people."

The drive took place at the sheriff's office. Everyone who donated received gift cards to Chick-Fil-A and Papa Johns.
