Leon County Schools announce three new principals

LEON COUNTY, Fla. — Leon County Schools have named three new principals for schools in the county.

They announced the following personnel actions were approved during the School Board meeting on Tuesday:

  • Conley Elementary School—Jason Koerner is being named the principal of Conley Elementary School. Mr. Koerner has been an assistant principal at Lincoln High for the previous ten years.
  • Fairview Middle School—Rusty Edwards has been named principal of Fairview Middle School. Mr. Edwards has been an assistant principal at Rickards high School for the previous eleven years.
  • Riley Elementary School—April Knight has been named principal of Riley Elementary School. Ms. Knight has been an assistant principal at Gilchrist Elementary for the previous two years. Prior to Gilchrist, April was an assistant principal at both Griffin and Nimes Middle Schools.

LCS also said Scott Hansen will move to the district office to take over responsibilities in the Student Activities Office, while also overseeing secondary school management. In addition, Hansen will be tasked with managing the new $1 million furniture, fixture and equipment allowance to be allocated to schools beginning next year.

All personnel moves will become effective July 1, although some principals will begin to transition to their new schools in the month of June.
