LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Leon County leaders have reinstated a countywide nightly curfew starting Tuesday night and continuing daily until the morning of Monday, June 8.

The curfew will run nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Tuesday night. It will continue each night until June 8.

"To protect individuals and property, the countywide curfew was requested by the Leon County Sheriff's Office, the City of Tallahassee, and the State Attorney's Office," officials wrote in a release.

During the curfew, county residents are being told to remain home, though you can still go to and from work, seek healthcare or emergency veterinary care, or walk a pet on your premises.

"While we respect the right of individuals to peacefully protest, our first obligation remains ensuring the safety of our community," said Leon County Commission Chairman Bryan Desloge.

A proclamation establishing the curfew will be posted on the Leon County Emergency Information Portal (www.LeonCountyFL.gov/ei [lnks.gd]) shortly.
