LEON COUNTY, Fla. — Hurricane season is just days away and Leon County is making sure that everyone is prepared.

The county's emergency management team hosted a Citizens Engagement Series to inform the public about what to do in case of an emergency.

Wednesday was all about preparation and Leon County says the best way to get prepared is to know what to do when disaster strikes.

Participants of the series got to learn through hands-on activities as well as meet with non-profit partners in our community who have huge roles when a natural disaster happens in Leon County.

On Tuesday, Leon County Commissioners made it a top priority to better inform and prepare the residents of Leon County.

"Everytime that we have a disaster in Leon County, we use it as a chance in county government to further improve our responses to disaster and one of the key parts is citizen resilience and citizen preparedness and events like tonight are one of the key ways we support and reinforce that," said Matthew Cavell, assistant to Leon County administrator.

The series went on until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
