TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Leon County government will host the fifth annual “Created Equal” event marking the anniversary of the landmark 1960 TLH lunch counter sit-in.

The event is an open forum where officials hope to answer the question: "Are we sitting together now?"

Public Information Specialist Royle King said it's the beginning of a critical conversation.

"We cannot grow as a community and individuals and people if we only surround ourselves with people that think like us,” King said. “So its extremely critical and important for us as a community to have real, frank, tough conversations about things we don't necessarily agree on, so that we can see different perspectives.”

The event is on Thursday starts at 6 p.m. at the Moon.
