LEON COUNTY, Fla. — Leon County wants members of the community to be more involved with the legislative session.
That's why they hosted a legislative dialogue community meeting Friday morning.
The county's been hosting meetings like this throughout the legislative session for the last eight years.
The goal, to work together to identify shared priorities.
At Friday's meeting participants talked about a transmission line through healthcare, water issues, mental health, and universities and the economy.
There was also a dialogue about racism in the community.
"Tallahassee and Leon County is very conscientious into with what goes on with our race relations. If you look to Ode of Understanding coming up this weekend, and have a conversation about race relations in Leon County we're very support of that," said Nick Maddox, County Commissioner, At Large. "As well as making sure that our history, our civil rights in African American history in Leon County is pushed in forth front."
Participants said they wanted to listen to the concerns of the black community.
