LCSO investigating after woman randomly stabbed by suspect in woods

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Leon County Sheriff's office is searching for a suspect after a man jumped out of the woods and stabbed an 18-year-old woman.

Deputies say the incident happened Friday, March 22 in the 2700 block of Silverlake Road. They say an 18-year-old female was exercising near a wooded area and an unknown male approached her from the woods and assaulted her.

LCSO patrol deputies, Aviation Unit, Forest Patrol, and K-9 Unit responded to the area in an attempt to locate the possible suspect but were unsuccessful in locating him. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

She was later released.

The victim reported the male was white, in his mid-30’s,wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and grey hat. Anyone with information is asked to call the Leon County Sheriff’s Office at 850-606-3300
