LEON COUNTY, Fla. — The Leon County Sheriff's Office hosted a round table discussion today on the growing meth problem affecting the Big Bend area which included Franklin, Gulf, Jefferson, and Taylor counties.

The Taylor County Sheriffs Office says they are looking for more funding from Washington and the federal government to open a drug rehab center.

TCSO is looking to increase the force and have more drug investigators and collaboration between surrounding counties in the Big Bend area.

Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil said the meeting was a step forward.

"I thought this was an extremely effective meeting. I think that all the sheriffs were able to voice their concerns. We all have different communities, different size communities with different needs, all trying to impact the number of meth cases we have in our community," said Sheriff McNeil.

Authorities hope that federal money that was given to fight opiods will now be redirected to fight meth in the community.
