LEON COUNTY, Fla. — National Crime Victims Rights Week kicked off Sunday and the Leon County Sheriff's Office is hosting events all week long.
The week brings awareness to people who were killed, survivors, and their families.
LCSO held their annual Ribbon Tying to honor victims in Leon County on Monday.
"We in law enforcement want to deliver a message to all the victims first and for most that you are never forgotten," said LCSO Sheriff Walt McNeil. "We have rededicated ourselves and or energy to doing everything we can first and foremost to prevent crime from occurring."
Sheriff McNeil said the event is all about their commitment to the citizens in the community.
It's a way to send a message to victims that they haven't forgotten them and to honor all victims who lost their life to violence.
