LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — A carjacking suspect is back behind bars after deputies say he was caught in Tallahassee driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen in South Florida.
According to The Leon County Sheriff's Office, on Thanksgiving morning around 8 a.m deputies were working in the area of Highway 90 near Geddie Road.
While patrolling the area, deputies noticed a grey Toyota Corolla that had been taken in a carjacking in Miami-Dade County just days earlier.
LCSO along with the Tallahassee Police Department proceeded to conduct a felony stop on the vehicle on Tharpe Street near Max Drive.
Deputies say the driver, 35-year-old Angel Duran, refused to get of the car and threatened to commit suicide.
Duran was eventually persuaded to exit the car by a TPD officer.
He was immediately arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility.
During a search of the car, deputies found a gun that had been reported stolen to Miami-Dade police.
Documents note Duran was on state probation after having served 15 years for armed robbery.
