TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Lawrence Keefe, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, will recognize the Leon County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday for its contributions to the Justice Department’s Project Safe Neighborhoods Program.

The recognition comes as part of the PSN initiative, which aims to bring together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and make neighborhoods safer for everyone.

The LCSO has played a role in furthering the goals and initiatives of the PSN Program through its ALLinLEON program, according to the U.S attorney’s office.

“Through collaborative efforts with law enforcement and community partners, ALLinLEON has consistently been effective at reducing violent crime and making Leon County a safer place to live,” said a press release from Keefe’s office.

This national-level award recognizes a police or sheriff’s department that has “shown a superior commitment to targeting and/or preventing violent crime at the local level.”
