TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Leon County Schools is making it easier for families in need to access meals from school.

The district began its one-stop pickup meal delivery service at Fairfiew Middle School on Tuesday.

It will allow any child under the age of 18 to pick up breakfast and lunch each day of the week from one of several delivery routes.

"There will be six routes in total that will start at roughly 11 a.m.," said James Cole, the transportation director for LCS. "Those routes will cover Bond and Pineview elementary schools, and so again, we're excited."

Each of the six buses is packed with 100 meals. The district will pilot the program at the two elementary schools before expanding it to the entire district.
