TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — More than two million people struggle to afford nutritious food in Florida and 800,000 of those are children, according to Feeding Florida.

That's why the Junior League of Tallahassee started their Little Black Dress Initiative, to raise awareness for those suffering from food insecurity in Leon County.

Caitlyn Yancey Moore, co-chair of the Little Black Dress Initiative, says it wasn't until she joined the league that she saw how many people needed help.

"Finding out that there are children that unless they are at school they're not getting meals, they're not getting warm meals every night it had a huge huge impact on my heart," said Moore.

All of the funds collected by the league's initiative will go towards outreach programs in Tallahassee.
