(WTXL) — It might be tempting to use old fireworks from last year but is it safe?

We asked Steve Price, a salesman at the Firework Stand in the Walmart parking lot at the corner of West Tennessee Street and Capital Circle Northwest.

He says he's been very busy the past few days with people buying their favorites like firecrackers and pop-its. While he encourages people to get new fireworks this year, he says go ahead and use ones from last year if you still have them.

"Yeah, most of the time the fireworks don't go bad unless they get wet," said Price. "The black powder stays good for a while, so if they have them from last year they should still work."

Price says he expects to be busy all day and night, even up until midnight and then again Friday.
