Hutchinson Ferry Road in Gadsden County still waiting on repairs

GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — As one bridge is being repaired, the other is still destroyed. Both are unusable and those who live in the area, are not happy about it.

A truck driver who used the road often says they’ve waited too long for nothing to have been done. The culvert collapsed in August of 2019, sending two drivers to the hospital.

Signs on Hutchinson Ferry Road are blocking the area where the bridge is. Only those who have homes there can enter.

Hutchinson Ferry Road belongs to Gadsden County, who's responsible for the repairs.

David Garcia is wondering what’s taking the county so long to fix it.

"It’s just inconvenient for everyone who stays in this community," said Garcia. "It sucks that we have to go all the way to the state line or back onto 90 than to go right where we can just go across.”

Gadsden County says they are still working with FDOT to get the bridge back up and running. Until this is fixed, there will be signs blocking access to this road.
