TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — All week long we've been telling you how to get prepared for Hurricane Season.
Day five of Hurricane Preparedness Week focuses on strengthening your home.
There's a lot you can do around your house so it's protected from the strong winds that come with hurricanes.
Make sure you trim the trees on your property, well ahead of the storm and shop for approved window coverings.
You don't want to leave that until the last minute when stores may be out of supplies.
Before the storm hits, collect all of your loose outdoor items and secure all doors. Don't forget to find a safe place to keep your vehicle.
"Strengthening your home can be a bit of an investment, but a worthy investment. Our homes are the most expensive thing we own and you wan to make sure it's well protected form the wind," said Kevin Peters, Emergency Management Director.
