TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Pets seem to be sometimes neglected when talking about cars and the high heat and just recently a couple in Jacksonville were arrested for animal cruelty after the leaving a pig in their car for more than an hour!
The Humane Society says that even leaving the air conditioner running will not prevent heat stroke. Car engines can fail and your pet could accidentally switch off the A/C.
Here's some tips to remember if you do see a pet in a hot car:
- Take down the car's make, model, and license plate number
- Ask a nearby store manager or security guard to make an announcement
- Call your local animal control or police
