How we got here: A look back at Taggart's time with FSU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Willie Taggart came on board December 6, 2017 and things have not been easy.

Taggart went five and seven in his first year starting off the season with a 24 to 3 loss to Virginia Tech.

The Seminoles struggled against Samford were blown out by Syracuse and lost to rivals Clemson, Miami and Florida.

Year two hasn't fared much better the lack of quarterback recruits, struggles on the offensive line, penalties, sputtering any progress, so what was the final straw?

This weekend Florida State is now 0 and 5 in two years to their rivals.

Taggart talked this weekend about doing a better job as a coaching staff to fix those mistakes, mistakes that eventually cost him his job.

"We as coaches have to make sure we have our guys in the right positions and our players have to go out and execute those plays when we call them. We stressed that all week, our players stressed that all week about how they need to execute and we have to do that. Coaches, we have to make sure we put them in a position so they can execute," said Willie Taggart.
