LIBERTY COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — An 18-year-old is in critical condition at a Tallahassee hospital after crashing into a tree in the front yard of a Liberty County home.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened Friday morning around 6 a.m. on C.R. 379.
They say an 18-year-old Hosford man was traveling south in his 1999 Chevy Silverado on C.R. 379 when he traveled onto the west shoulder. That's when the driver made a sharp left, causing the car to slide sideways and spin counterclockwise.
The car crossed both lanes of CR. 379 and onto the shoulder before the driver made a sharp right, again causing the car to slide and spin.
Troopers say the car crashed head-on into a concrete pipe near a home and continued going southbound, crashing into a tree head-on. They say the car then crashed into a second tree in the front yard of a home in the 18000 block of NW County Road 379, finally coming to a stop.
The driver was critically injured in the crash and was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The Liberty County Sheriff's Office, Liberty County EMS and Liberty County Fire Department assisted with the crash. Troopers say charges are pending further investigation.
