TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) — "Life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with a mother." That is a quote many typically hear a lot on Mother's Day. This year was a little different for many families, with dozens of people showing up to HarborChase Senior Living for a Mother’s Day parade.
The senior living facility held a brunch for their residents Sunday morning followed by a parade composed of residents' families.
Betty Wilder, who was out visiting her mother, said, “We can’t really see her up close and personal. This morning we had the brunch and kinda saw her, but then this afternoon we wanted to show her our love with our signs.”
Wilder's mom, nicknamed Cootie, has lived at Harbor chase for seven years. The 96 year old was so excited to see her family.
“I was amazed at the parade," said Cootie Rhodes. "There were very, very many people here and it was lovely.”
Even though Wilder along with everyone else will have to continue keeping their distance, they're grateful they still have the opportunity to see their loved ones.
“It’s great even at a distance," explained Wilder. "I hate it at a distance but at least I can see her at a distance and that’s the important thing.”
Mrs. Rhodes added, “You can just enjoy seeing people. It’s something we have to do.” Mrs. Rhodes also said she received several gift cards and of course said that she doesn’t need any of it, just the love of her family.
