TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A North Florida Basketball legend celebrated his 90th birthday on May 10.
A "Living My Best Life" celebration was held for Coach Vernell Ross, who coached the Northside High School Gladiators in the 60's and 70's in Havana, and led the team to win eight regional titles and three state titles.
Ross was inducted into the Florida A&M University sports Hall of Fame in 1984 and has received many more accolades throughout the years for all of his achievements in sports.
"This is the kind of community we have, and this is the kind of support I've had throughout my career," said Ross. "It's been a special ride, so the speak, special gift to have so many people, over the years, to show their support and caring with me. So I'm extremely happy about it."
