The Growing Room Child Development Centers is closing its Metropolitan Boulevard location in Tallahassee after a parent reported that she may have been exposed to the coronavirus.
Catherine Lee, the owner, said that a parent of a child attending the daycare reported on Wednesday that her coworker had tested positive for COVID-19. The parent is now being tested for COVID-19.
She said that the room where the child had been was closed down and the teacher was put under self-quarantine. They've also recommended that the other teachers and families who've been in the center also go under a voluntary quarantine.
While they haven't gotten the results back, the daycare made the decision to go ahead and close the rest of the center on Friday. They won't decide on when to reopen until after they get the test results back.
At this time, there is no confirmed case of coronavirus.
Operators say teachers and full-time staff are still employed and are getting paid.
As of now, operators are working on cleaning and decontaminating the facility to prevent any spread of illness. The three other facilities have also began taking precautions to prevent any spread.
No staff members have been tested for COVID-19.
