TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — On Tallahassee's southside, the future of Frenchtown is taking center stage again.
This time community leaders, business owners, and members of the NAACP are working together to strengthen the community, while keeping its history and culture intact.
This is the second meeting this group has held this year, the first was last month. It focused on identifying problems within the community and Thursday they'll make a plan to fix them.
"We don't want to see the same thing that happened on Macomb Street happen on Dunn, Dent, and Dome Street where they come in and just wipe out an entire community and say 'oh well we're going to need to put a hold upon, we're going to need to something here,'" said Curtis Taylor, Tallahassee Urban League President. "So we've got to get our act together, we've got to come together, make certain that we protect and we save Frenchtown."
People who participate in Thursday's meeting will break out into small groups to focus on specific topics.
The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. at Watson Temple Church.
