TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Governor Ron DeSantis' Communications Director, Fred Piccolo, confirmed to ABC 27 he will exit and take a new position at the Department of Education, starting January 6, 2021.
Piccolo said he gave his notice on December 23, before “the tweet.”
Based on Danny Rivero's tweet in response to Piccolo's, the Comms Director's tweet came in at 4 a.m. on Dec. 24.

Piccolo reportedly received backlash and deactivated his Twitter account after he wrote that photos of deceased COVID victims should be juxtaposed with 99 images of people who survived the disease.
Piccolo replaced Helen Aguirre Ferré in July. His departure means the governor will now have to find a third replacement to head communications.
