TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — It's an important day for those who believe in a higher power as Thursday is National Day of Prayer.
Governor Ron DeSantis spoke at the National Day of Prayer Event at the state Capitol.
"When we're talking about a prayer, whether you're doing it at the start of legislative session, whether you take an oath of office, you say 'so help me god.' Your doing that with a recognition that ultimately what we're doing here on earth is hopefully doing God's will," said DeSantis.
Faith leaders held hands with legislators in the Florida Capitol Rotunda to pray for a good outcome with legislation for working families.
The bills at the center of the prayer all focus on helping the working class and their families by narrow the economic inequality and promote paid family leave.
Gadsden County will also host their own National Day of Prayer observance. It's at 6:30 p.m. at the Gadsden County Courthouse.
FAMU Head Football Coach, Willie Simmons, will be the guest host.
Local pastors, musical ensembles, and praise teams will join together for the national theme "Love One Another."
