TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the First Lady, brought state agencies together to talk about ways to prevent future tragedies and to strengthen resources for all Floridians.

The group shared different perspectives on how to approach mental health, everything from more job opportunities to providing transitional housing.

They talked about how mental health affects Floridians of all ages and what needs to be done right now to help them.

"I want to make sure that what we're doing is meeting the needs, and it's effective. Whether the agencies can be doing something different, whether we, in our office, can do something, whether the Legislature can do something different," said DeSantis. "Given what's happened recently, we thought it was important to bring some folks together who are working hard in this space."

The FDLE commissioner said in 2018, more law enforcement officers died from suicide than those killed in the line of duty.
