Gov. DeSantis extends eviction moratorium to Sept. 1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Governor Ron DeSantis has extended the moratorium on evictions and foreclosures until Sept. 1 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The decision came in the form of an executive order just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday and without comment, with DeSantis signing Executive Order 20-159 into effect.

The current moratorium was scheduled to expire after midnight, Aug. 1, Friday.

It applies only to residential property, not commercial buildings.

DeSantis started the moratorium on April 2.

Executive Orders 20- 121 , 20-13 7 and 20-159, and as amended herein, until 12:0 l a.m. on September I. 2020.
