LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Leon County Sheriff's office has arrested a 17-year-old Godby High School student after he was found with a gun in his backpack.
About 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, deputies with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office Department of Youth Services were given information about a 17-year-old student posting a picture of himself on social media holding a gun.
Deputies went to the Godby High School student’s residence and found him nearby.
While speaking with the student, he admitted to having the firearm in his backpack. The firearm was located and Jenkins was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
They say Jenkins was already on suspension from school for an unrelated incident and was not believed to have intentions of going to the school.
He is being charged with possession of firearm by minor.
