TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Here in the state of Florida there are more than 800,000 children who don't get enough food to live an active and healthy lifestyle.

According to Second Harvest of the Big Bend, our local counties have the highest rate of Florida residents that are struggling to put enough food on the table.

Thursday afternoon, Tadlock Roofing made a pledge to help ease some of those concerns.

CEO Dale Tadlock presented Godby High School with a $4,000 check. The funds will be used to support the school's 2019-20 food pantry.

"I was so surprised I was almost drawn to tears. I was very surprised. Some of the folks know me and I didn't cry today but I almost did," said Desmond Cole, Godby High School principal.

Last year Godby received $2,000 from Tadlock Roofing. With the company doubling their donation, the school has received 100 percent of the funds needed to run the pantry throughout this entire school year.
