Georgia authorities arrest wanted man who led them on chase in stolen vehicle

COOK COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — Cook County Sheriff's Office says the wanted suspect who led authorities on a vehicle pursuit in a stolen car has been arrested.

29-year-old Alvin Roberson was taken into custody in the area of the intersection of Georgia Highway 76 and Highway 122 in the city of Barney on Monday around 12:26 p.m.


Georgia authorities searching for man who led them on a vehicle pursuit in a stolen vehicle around multiple counties.

The Brooks County Sheriff's Office with the help of the Cook County Sheriff's Office began a vehicle pursuit of a black in color Honda on Georgia Highway 76 headed towards Cook County on Monday around 1 a.m.

Authorities say at approximately 1:12 a.m., the vehicle crashed just north of Greggs Road in Cook County.

After the crash, the driver got out of the vehicle and ran away from the scene.

Investigators identified the suspect as 29-year-old Alvin Roberson.

Roberson is described as being 5’7” and weighs approximately 175 lbs.

He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans but authorities say he may have discarded the T-shirt.

The vehicle has been confirmed to be stolen out of Columbia County, Florida.

At this time, authorities are still searching for Roberson in the area near the Cook and Brooks line.

Investigators are urging residents to be on the lookout for Roberson and if seen do not approach but to call 911 immediately.

The Cook County and Brooks County Sheriff's Offices are being assisted in the search by the Georgia State Patrol Aviation Unit, the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office, and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
