TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Governor Ron DeSantis announced Friday that all COVID-19 restrictions on youth sports and summer camps in Florida have been lifted, effective immediately.

That's good news for Gallop's Family Center in Tallahassee that has been open for over three decades.

President Kristal Franklin says they were able to continue their pre-school during the pandemic as well as provide care for essential worker's children.

Franklin also explained that she was surprised by the governor's announcement, however it won't change too much from the way they're doing things now at the center.

"We're not just going to lift up the curtain and say, 'Okay, we're here let's go back to our normal," said Franklin. "I feel like where we are is our new normal for safety measures and I think for comfort for our families. This is the commitment we made, so this is how we're going to stay."

Franklin says they'll cut the amount of campers they have in half this summer and plan on following CDC guidelines of 10 people per group throughout the day.
