TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTLX) — During a time when money might be tight for many, comes a partnership between Gaines Street Pies and The Community Round Table of Tallahassee.

They joined forces to help give local children presents this holiday season.

While having a Pizza Party open to the public, they gave children in attendance a free gift, and prepared other gifts from the wish list to be distributed by the different individuals and organizations that helped out.

Leland Whitfield works with the Community Round Table of Tallahassee, a community advocacy group working to improve the lives of children in low income communities.

"We had a goal to raise $10,000, and our wonderful community came together and we raised the money," said Whitfield. "We were able to get each kid that was identified their wish list."

The wish lists, ranging from clothes, to toys and electronics, was posted on Gaines Street Pies' Facebook, and organizations and individuals had until Dec. 17 to drop off gifts or cash to Gaines Street Pies.

"It was really a community effort," said Jeremy Matlow, the owner of Gaines Street Pies. "We tasked the Community Round Table with identifying some families in need and they just went out and found them."
